Sometimes life moves too fast. Many times we are the cause of the that. We schedule lots of stuff in our 24 hour days – from meetings to fun to all sorts of activities. One of the things that we don’t always schedule is down time. Down time is time to relax and recover from all of the activities that keep us so busy. Down time is important. We see in the Bible even Jesus got away from the crowds and had some time to Himself. He also teaches us that there are times for us to be still.
Recovery time is not just needed for your physical body, but it is needed for your mind. Making time for your body and mind to recover can give opportunity for your spirit to grow deeper into the things of God. You can get revelation from God when you are quiet and not running around all the time busy doing things. Outlook is important to planning for down time. Do you feel like your job is your life? Do you feel like your children are your life? What about a hobby of yours? None of those things should be your life, or what you focus the whole of your attention on. Your life is God and your life is in God. Taking time to relax, spend time with Him and hear from Him will make the active parts of your life better and will allow you to grow spiritually.
