In the gospel of John chapter 1, you learn that Jesus has always existed. He put on a flesh body when he came to earth but He was with Father God before then. He is the Eternal Word. He was called the Word when He was in the beginning with God. The Bible also says that He (the Word or Jesus) is the light of men and that the light shines in darkness.
When you get saved you are translated from the kingdom of darkness (being separated from God), to the Kingdom of Light (brought back in fellowship with God through the work of Jesus Christ). When you get saved the light shines in you. Your default is to shine with the light of Christ. Because Christ lives in you, you shine automatically.
There is no darkness in God. See I John 1:5, John 8:12 and James 1:17. If there is no darkness in God He can’t give you what He doesn’t have. So when Christ comes to live in you, any darkness that was there is overcome by light. You learn from Matthew 5:14-15 that if the light is hidden, you choose to hide it. The light in you is a witness of Christ. That light shines when you are at work, in your community, at school and at home. You witness by your presence, your response, your attitude and your outlook on life. So what’s the issue then?
The issue is that darkness can’t comprehend light. That’s why Jesus told us to go and share the gospel throughout the world. Let your light shine. Don’t hide your light from others. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your conduct and share Jesus as the Holy Spirit leads. Continuing in this teaching on the radio broadcast on Wednesday at noon EST on heaven983.com.
